Tammy Mastroberte
Founder, Publisher & Editorial Director
Elevated Existence Magazine
Growing up in an Italian Catholic family, Tammy Mastroberte always had a belief in a higher power. But at the age of 22, the sudden death of her mother three days after Christmas sent her on a quest to discover more. She wanted answers to life’s big questions: Why did it happen? What is the meaning of it all? What happens after we die?
After eight years of searching, she began to uncover the purpose and synchronicity behind many of the events in her life, including the death of her mother, and decided to use her talent for writing and her years of experience in the magazine publishing industry to be of service to others. She created Elevated Existence Magazine in 2008 to provide the latest spiritual and self-improvement topics and teachings, as well as actionable advice, tools and inspiration to others also seeking answers.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in English Writing from William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J., she has spent more than 15 years in the magazine publishing industry, starting at the age of 20 as an Editorial Assistant for two trade magazines during her senior year of college. After spending 10 years writing on a variety of subjects and industries, including interior design, architecture, business technology, retail and hospitality, she decided to focus on her passion for spiritual and self-improvement topics and share them with the world.
In March 2008, she founded Elevated Existence LLC in order to publish Elevated Existence Magazine, which has featured spiritual celebrities, including Shirley MacLaine, Melissa Etheridge, Russell Simmons, Olivia Newton-John and Jane Fonda, as well as popular spiritual and self-help authors and leaders, including Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Judith Orloff and Louise Hay.
Additionally, in its first year of publishing, the magazine won two awards. For editorial excellence, Elevated Existence won a 2009 Bronze Eddie Award from Folio: Magazine for Best Single Article in the Religious and Spiritual consumer magazine category. The article, written by Mastroberte, revealed the connection between addiction recovery and spirituality or belief in a higher power. On the design side, the magazine was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Design by the Art Director’s Club of New Jersey for the layout of the June 2008, premiere issue cover story featuring Deepak Chopra. Also, in 2010, the magazine won a Clarion Award for Best Online Publication.
Mastroberte created the Elevated Existence Spiritual Service Award in 2009 to highlight one individual each year who is working to spread the gift of spirituality to others worldwide – presenting the 2009 award to Hay House founder and best-selling author, Louise Hay, the 2010 award to Academy Award-winning actress and best-selling author, Shirley MacLaine, the 2011 award to bestselling author and spiritual teacher, Dr. Wayne Dyer, and in 2012 to bestselling author, Gregg Braden.
