Zen 180 Launches Meditation & Brain Enhancement App

Zen180 launched the free Zen180 App helping people get focused, creative, and handle everyday stresses of living. The app provides background audio to use while meditating, reading, studying, doing homework, or trying to relax, and features five different cognitive enhancing audio programs, including Focused, Creative, Awakened, Relaxed and Romantic Mind. The main audio Focused is a free track, and the other four are available for 99 cents each or $1.99 for all four.

The app uses exclusive 3D binaural beats to mimic the desired state of mind and help a person meditate on a deeper level with brain enhancement audio technology to augment the 5 natural brain wave patterns: Alpha, Beta, Delta, Theta and Gamma. Each track offers a time period (from 5 minutes to 30 minutes), and Zen180 recommends using stereo headphones, since the app will not work properly with regular speakers. The idea is to listen to the audio track with headphones while you trying to focus on a task or to meditate.

The Creative Mind track is meant to help creative people, such as writers and musicians, overcome the dreaded “writer’s block” or other creativity hang-ups and free the mind for new ideas and directions. The Awakened Mind track helps students, frequent travelers, workaholics, and party animals pep up after a red-eye flight or late night out so they are ready to work the next day. The Romantic Mind track will bring one closer to loved ones and the Relaxed Mind track can help completely relax and let go of problems when over-stressed. ”

9 Vegan Options to Boost Protein

Whether you eat a vegan/vegetarian diet or not, protein is an essential component to a healthy diet. Protein is essential for growth and maintenance of body tissues, and it even helps the hair on your head grow!

There are even many options for those concerned about eating “complete protein,” which includes all nine of the amino acids, or the building blocks of protein, the body can’t produce on its own.

How much protein do you need a day? The DRI (Dietary Reference Intake) is 0.36 grams per pound. So a 120 pound woman would need around 43 grams per day. It is also said that men need more. On average, for a sedentary male, 56 grams per day are recommended, and for the average woman, 46 grams per day.

Below are some options to consider for your next meal:

1. Quinoa
Protein: 8 grams of protein per 1 cup serving, cooked

A great substitute for rice or even oatmeal in the morning, this complete protein is full of fiber, iron, magnesium and manganese. It can even be bought in flour form to make pancakes, muffins, bread and more.

2. Buckwheat
Protein: 6 grams per 1 cup serving, cooked

Great for those concerned about gluten, this grain can be used for pancakes, oatmeal, baking and more.

3. Hemp Seeds
Protein: 10 grams per 3 tbsp serving

Another complete protein, this seed packs magnesium, zinc, iron and calcium with it, and can be sprinkled on salad, oatmeal and even blended into a smoothie. It’s also a great source of essential fatty acids, such as omega-3s.

4. Chia Seeds
Protein: 4 grams per 2 tbsp serving

Super high plant source of omega-3 fatty acids, and they offer more fiber than flax seeds or nuts. They also contain iron, calcium, antioxidants and zinc, and many use them as an egg replacement in recipes because when combined with water, they form a gel. Another great one for smoothies!

5. Pumpkin Seeds
Protein: 9 grams per 1 ounce

Eat them on their own, add them to a salad, or sprinkle some on your morning oatmeal.

6. Avocado
Protein: 4 grams per 1 cup

Antioxidants, mono-unsaturated fats, and more make avocado a great choice for nutrition – plus it offers 4 grams of protein per cup. It can be added to salad, sandwiches and smoothies – and try this recipe for Vegan Avocado Mousse!

7. Chickpeas
Protein: 7 grams per ½ cup

Add them to a salad, roast them in the oven for a snack, or puree them with tahini, garlic, vinegar and oil for hummus.

8. Green Peas
Protein: 4 grams per ½ cup

This veggie is packed with protein, as well as vitamin C and fiber.

9. Sundried Tomatoes
Protein: 8 grams per 1 cup

A great addition to salads, side dishes, pasta and chili, sundried tomatoes can also be mixed into a dip or hummus!

Law of Attraction: Ask to Serve

By Sherry Winn

We want to manifest our desires. We want to live the life of our dreams. We want to be happy, peaceful and serene – to experience the joy we read about in spiritual books, and to feel love written by the great poets. We want to marry our soul mate, live in harmony, and continue the honeymoon romance for decades. We want to buy new cars, live in mansions, and purchase our boats, ski jets, four wheelers and horses for the weekends.

We want. We want. We want.

The wanting of something is not evil, nor is the requesting of our dream. Yet, there is vital piece missing to the formula we think of as the Law of Attraction. If we are always wanting and asking, what is the Universe hearing?

“A Course in Miracles” states, “To give and receive are one in truth.”

If we receive what we give, what are we giving? What does it sound like to you when somebody says, “I want this. I want that. I want. I want. I want?”

Last week I was with a friend of mine, Sheila, and her two children at the grocery store. Sheila asked if I wanted to go into the store or stay in the minivan. I decided to go into the store. She unbuckled her two children from the backseat of the van and we all went inside to shop for apples, barbecue sauce and bread for dinner.

In the first aisle of the grocery store, the requests began. “Mom, can I have some chips?” “Mom, I’m hungry.” “Mom, I love this candy bar.” “Mom, I promise I’ll be good if you will just buy me my favorite ice cream.” I looked at Sheila apologetically, realizing too late what she had really asked of me was to keep her children from entering the store.

Sheila looked at me, her patience wearing thin from saying, “No” one too many times. “I cannot wait until my children can drive to the store for me.”

The Law of Attraction returns to us what we request.  If most of the time we say “I want,” then what is returned to us?

If we receive what we give, how would that change how we ask? Dr. Wayne Dyer, in his book, “I Can See Clearly Now,” emphasizes again and again during his successes of writing books and giving lectures, he asked not what he would receive, but how he could serve. Dr. Dyer believes the key to manifesting is taking the focus off of what we need and putting it on what we can offer.

“A Course of Miracles” suggests you close your eyes, and think of what you would offer to everyone and hold it as yours.

  • To all people, I offer the serenity of solitude.
  • To all people, I offer the experience of unconditional love.
  • To all people, I offer the awareness of abundance.
  • To all people, I offer the joy of perfect health.
  • To all people, I offer the completeness of peace of mind.

When we have the capacity to give to others, to feel the power of serving and knowing that in our service, we are receiving, we tap into the miracle of the Law of Attraction. When we take the focus off of lack, which is what we are doing when we continually ask, and focus on gifts, we change our asking from scarcity to abundance. We feel abundance. We feel peace. We feel love.

There is another great quote in the “A Course of Miracles,” which states, “No one can give what he has not received.” When you feel as if you have in your possession whatever you desire and you can give that away freely, you are giving and receiving at the same time.

The next time you begin to ask, think first of asking how you can give.
