Law of Attraction: Shifting the Paradigm to Manifest

By Sherry Winn

Let’s start off by defining a paradigm? It is the reality in which you live. In other words, it is the model, the pattern and the template of how you perceive the world. In order to find success in the law of attraction, you need to shift how you experience the world.

For example, let’s take goal setting. You have probably planned and took action, and there have been times life sent you three curveballs in a row. You may have perceived these as something outside of yourself, and outside of your ability to control. You may have believed that no matter how much you planned, it really didn’t matter. Life had rules of its own.

This is your model. You have lived it and heard it all your life. You believe you can control your reactions to events, but you don’t have the power to control the events themselves.

You’ve based your entire life on having a positive attitude, seeking the best within situations. You’ve been able to take difficult situations and find happiness within them. You feel good about this. And you should. You are happier and more joyful, but you are not living the dreams you desire. You are accepting life as it is.

Is this bad? No. It is a great step toward living your dreams because you are raising your vibration by being positive. Having high vibrations are a crucial step toward attracting what you want.

However, there is a difference between believing you have to accept what you have now and finding happiness within it, and intentionally raising your vibration knowing you are not yet where you want to be.

Total Responsibility
In order to live the law of attraction, you need to believe you are absolutely responsible for ALL things that happen to you — the good and the bad. OUCH! When I first heard this, I balked at the idea. Who wants to believe they are attracting being fired, chronic pain, or being dumped by a partner?

I know for a fact, I never said, “I want to develop chronic pain and live in agony for years.” Who would say that? I do know, though, that I believed the following:

  • Life wasn’t fair.
  • Bad things happened to good people.
  • You don’t get to choose your life. You get to choose your attitude.
  • Whatever will be will be. The future is not ours to see. (K-surah, surah)
  • We don’t get everything we want. Life doesn’t work that way.
  • There is not enough good to go around, so some people get stuck with the bad.

Can you see where my paradigm was stuck? Even though I didn’t want chronic pain or to get fired, I believed in a philosophy of life that determined the way I saw the world. I expected life to be unfair. I anticipated pain. I believed certain unpleasant things were just going to happen to me.

Due to my belief system, I was attracting what I thought about most of the time. I was responsible for creating the emotional and physical pain I felt.

Acknowledging the Creator Within
In order to live the law of attraction, a true shift had to take place. I had to believe I had more power than I realized. This was scary to acknowledge I was born with a gift to create. I was a creator.

You, too, are a creator. We create with our thoughts, which determine our actions. Imagine what would happen if you shifted your belief system to include total responsibility. What would happen if you were able to change your thoughts to believe you had the power to create your life, not just accept it?

What would happen if you changed your philosophy like I changed mine?

  • Life is fair.
  • Things happen because we attract them.
  • You get to choose your life by changing your thoughts.
  • The future is ours to create.
  • We get what we believe we can have.
  • There is more than enough. We can all live abundantly.

Can you see now how a shift in paradigm can change how the law of attraction works for you?

Joan Ranquet: How to Communicate With Our Pets

Internationally renowned animal communicator, Joan Ranquet shared how our pets communicate with us and how we can better communicate with them during a live call for the Living an Elevated Existence Mind, Body & Soul Summit going on now through February 2014.

Ranquet explained how she learned to communicate with animals more than 20 years ago, and now teaches people worldwide to do the same. She is the author of the bestselling book “Communication with all Life: Revelations of an Animal Communicator,” published by Hay House, and the founder of Communication with All Life University, a comprehensive certification program for Animal Communicators.

“I learned it as a skill, and it is something you can develop. It is truly something we can all tap into,” she told listeners.

Sign up FREE to listen to Joan and 25 other mind, body, spirit experts!

During the call, she explained animals communicate telepathically – with the transference of pictures, words and feelings – and we all came to this physical world understanding this form of communication. This is how we communicated with our caregivers and parents when we were infants, but once we learned language we let telepathy go.

“We have kind of let that muscle atrophy when we learned words and we learned language,” she said. “By reconnecting with it, it’s retraining that muscle.”

We are constantly sending and receiving information, whether we realize it our not, and Ranquet refers to it as “broadcasting.” In our pet’s world, they are familiar with recognizing this form of communication, but as humans we don’t always get the signals our pets send to us.

“For us, the signals come in from our animals and we don’t always get it,” she noted. “Or we don’t realize we’re getting it. We suddenly have this great idea to go on a walk and the dog is sitting there going, ‘Duh, I’ve been sending you that picture for hours.’

Because we are always sending images – even when speaking to our animals – we need to be aware of it, especially concerning problem behavior, said Ranquet.

“Any time we speak out loud we are sending pictures. We are always sending, so I always tell people when they have a naughty dog situation, if you are focusing that the dog goes out and digs in the garden, you are accidently sending — as fast as you hit send on your computer for an email — you are sending the picture to go dig in the yard,” she explained. “Now, when the dog sees you are upset about something and see’s the picture of digging in the yard, they are not sitting there thinking, ‘Oh she is upset because I’m digging in the yard,’ they think she is upset and she seems to be picturing me digging in the yard, so I should go dig in the yard. That might make her feel better.’”

Also, it’s not just our minds, but also our energy field and the emotion behind our thoughts and images, which impacts the way our pets perceive us and our communication. This is why the energy of a household is important and can have a huge effect on an animal.

“Their survival is dependent on the how the energy field of the whole household feels. In the wild they would be looking to the leader, and if the leader was distressed about something, they would be thinking, ‘Uh oh, I better keep my eye out here.’” said Ranquet.

Calming Your Pet
Whether dealing with a rescued animal or a random thunderstorm, there are ways we can help our pets to calm down and feel safe and secure. The first is to center ourselves and calm our own energy before approaching the pet.

“One thing that animals do is they will pretty quickly imitate our breathing so just taking the time to breath and say, ‘You get to be the cat or the dog, and I’ve got this people stuff. You are fine,’” Ranquet shared on the call.

She also recommended looking into flower essences to put in their water, including Rescue Remedy and others specifically for calming or shock, and even bodywork.

“I like to do acupressure points, especially on the hind feet to ground the animal into their body,” she said. “I would consider some grounding essential oils like a Vetiver or something that has a real grounded scent. There is a lot of things like grapefruit and things that are lively, but you want something that is going to really ground the dog.”

Sandy Zeldes: End Emotional Eating & Love Yourself Skinny

Certified nutrition consultant and certified EFT practitioner Sandy Zeldes shared tips to end emotional eating, heal subconscious blocks to weight loss and love yourself skinny on a live call as part of the Living an Elevated Existence Mind, Body & Soul Summit!

On the call, she shared three invisible barriers people face when trying to lose weight. They include:

1 .Emotional Stress – There is a genuine need to have a way of handling stress that works for you, especially when dealing with food and weight loss, she explained to listeners.

2. Negative Beliefs about Food our Bodies and Weight – Many are subconscious, and stem from childhood. We carry them around with us, and they operate on our choices today, according to Zeldes.

3. Nutritional Deficits – “These develop after many, many years of struggling with food,” she said. “It has to do with all this dieting that people do or food restricting that creates blood sugar imbalances and hormone imbalances. It’s invisible to people because we have been doing it for so long.”

These three aspects are pillars that need to be dealt with in order to overcome emotional eating and end the struggle with food and weight, and Zeldes uses a variety of tools in her practice to help clients, including EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique.

“EFT is very accessible, and it really works,” she said, explaining we can use it to clear stress, emotional trauma and negative beliefs interfering with weight loss — and even calm cravings. “It works to bring up whatever needs to come up. It works with our inner beliefs. It’s an emotional version of acupuncture. We tap on traditional meridian points to release energy and emotions.”

Additionally, many people struggle with blood sugar imbalance, hormone imbalance, thyroid or adrenal issues, and Zeldes believes stress and an unbalanced diet is often the culprit.

“Stress is often a beginning point for all these symptoms we have. When we released trapped emotion around a very stressful incident, the changes that happen to the physical body and our symptoms is direct – whether physical pain, I’ve seen hormones balance over time, and I’ve seen people correct blood sugar imbalances,” she said.

The energy of love – especially self-love – is important when it comes to healing our bodies, and this can have a direct effect on our weight issues as well.

“Once you get to a place of peace, self-love and self-worth, the food is not the pull,” she said, sharing the story of a client who was 52 years old and realized she had been dieting and hating herself and her body since she was 14 years old. Once she broke through to that realization and released the energy around it, her life and her weight began to change.

“She is the perfect example of loving yourself skinny. She lost 8 pounds over the holidays just from letting go of hating her body. It was a direct link,” Zeldes said. “Also, what I’m talking about when I say ‘love yourself skinny’ is have some compassion for yourself. As women we do not have that.”

A New Approach
Rather then focus on the diet, the calories or the food, Zeldes teaches clients to address the underlying issues – the three invisible barriers – in order to have a weight loss breakthrough.

When the triggers are removed – including emotional stress and deeply rooted negative beliefs – people can begin eating in a balanced way, which alone can eliminate cravings, she said.

“The antidote to dieting is eating in a balanced way. When you do, you can feel what it feels like to have your blood sugar balanced, and that is the key to knowing the difference between a physiological or emotional craving,” Zeldes shared.

Working with the underlying issues is what makes any other eating plan or diet work – without addressing these factors people will often continue to fail.

“I have many friends in the nutrition world and if clients don’t follow through with the plan, they can’t get the results. This is what helps you follow through with any plan you want to do and make it work,” she noted. “This is the preplan to any plan.”

She offered listeners access to her program “How to End Emotional Eating & Heal Subconscious Blocks to Weight Loss,” at an 87% discount, where she leads people through the steps to set them up for weight loss success.

Zeldes also offered a tip for people to become more aware of their inner self-talk and begin to interrupt the negative cycle. When we recognize that voice, we can picture a hand up to stop the thought.

“Do this any time you have a negative thought about food, about your body, about your weight,” she said. ”It’s about awareness and having the willingness to be with it.”

She also left listeners with one question they can use when they feel the stress taking over and are about to self-sabotage. Ask: “What do I need right now.”

“It’s a good question to ask is when you are in that moment. Give yourself that 10 second window to breath and really ask, ‘What do I need right now?” If you can ask that question, you’re going to discover it’s not the food. It’s not the French fries, or the fast food, or that candy. It’s, ‘I need to lie down, I need someone to help me, I need my husband to help me, I need to just go scream, I need to get a good night’s sleep.’ We blame the food for everything, and it’s not the food. The food is just the symptom.”

Vasavi Kumar: Going From Big Ideas to Realities that Serve the Soul

Vasavi Kumar is a certified coach, and co-author of the bestselling book, “Succeeding in Spite of Everything.” She has been described as “your kick-in-the-pants en route to your desired destination,” and when she spoke live on “Living an Elevated Existence Mind, Body & Soul Summit,” a three-month long telesummit produced by Elevated Existence Magazine, she didn’t disappoint.

Kumar shared how she grew up in a traditional Indian family and in her college years suffered from drug and alcohol addiction – eventually diagnosed with bipolar disorder. But she never let these obstacles stop her on her path to finding freedom.

“My purpose here on earth is to share my story in such a way that impacts people so that they can understand they can have anything they want – you may not get everything that you want, but you can have anything that you want – and you have to be willing to take action to do that,” she told listeners.

Many of us have goals and dreams, but we get stuck in the web of fear and doubt, and become overwhelmed by the circumstances surrounding us. But Kumar explained if we want to find true freedom, taking action despite the fear or obstacles is the only course of action.

“If you want to have freedom in your life you have to be willing to take action and go get it. Action really is the antidote to your suffering,” she shared. “Your freedom is going to come when you are scared and thinking ‘I can’t do this.’  It’s when you’re scared and you are willing to do it anyway. It really is about taking risks and realizing that whatever it is you are meant to do boils down to you being willing to do whatever you need to do to make it happen.”

We all have obstacles in our lives, and we can either believe they are obstacles or believe they are part of the lessons in life we are meant to learn from – the choice is ours.

“I believe that God, your higher power, doesn’t give you things you can’t handle,” said Kumar. “Every action that I take, I ask ‘Is this going to move me forward as far as serving the world, or is this keeping me where I am, or is this making me go backwards.’”

Moving Beyond Fear
Fear is normal, Kumar told the audience on the call. Everybody feels fear. The key is to not allow it to dominate us, and stop us from moving forward in life.

“The misconception is ‘I can’t take action if I’m afraid.’ No. Incorrect. The two can co-exist,” she said. “You can be afraid and you can take action. In fact, more often then not, you’re going to be scared. Any time you do something scary, or that is calling you to be a bigger, higher version of yourself, you are going to be scared. Now you can use that fear as an obstacle for yourself, or you can say, ‘O.K, that’s cool. I’m scared, and I’m going to do it anyway.’”

During the call she shared her four-step process for moving forward to a life of freedom. This includes:

1. Know Your Why — We need to know why we are doing whatever it is we are doing, or why we want to achieve the goal we set. “Get clear on your Why. Ask yourself, ‘Why do I want to do this?’” she shared.

2. Examine Your Beliefs — Look at the beliefs we have around the goal, and not the limiting or disempowering ones. “Ask yourself what you choose to believe about it? What do you want to believe? What is the belief you want to empower you? This is what I call faking it to make it,” she said.

3. Know What You Want — “What is it that you want? Do you want to write a book, pitch yourself to a network, or be in a relationship? Feel it, touch it, taste it and get so clear on it that you are actually in the picture inside your mine,” Kumar said.

4. Figure Out the How — This is the last thing we need to understand when trying to achieve a goal and move forward. However, many people start here rather then end up here, and that doesn’t work, said Kumar. We must get clear on the first three aspects before tackling the how if we want to succeed.

Transcendental Meditation Technique Shown to Reduce Anxiety, Study Shows

Transcendental Meditation technique (TM) has been shown to have a large effect on reducing trait anxiety for people with high anxiety. Trait anxiety is a measure of how anxious a person usually is as opposed to state anxiety, which is how anxious a person is at the moment – according to a new meta-analysis published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.

The meta-analysis covered 16 randomized-controlled trials, the gold standard in medical research, and included 1,295 subjects from various walks of life, age groups and life situations. TM was compared with various control groups, including treatment-as-usual, individual and group psychotherapy, and various relaxation techniques.

Studies on high stress groups, such as veterans suffering from PTSD and prison inmates, showed dramatic reductions in anxiety from TM practice, whereas studies of groups with only moderately elevated anxiety levels, such as normal adults and college students, showed more modest changes.

“It makes sense that if you are not anxious to begin with, that TM practice is not going to reduce your anxiety that much,” said lead author of the meta-analysis, Dr. David Orme-Johnson, an independent research consultant. “Groups with elevated anxiety received significant relief from TM, and that reduction occurred rapidly in the first few weeks of practice.”

Additionally, TM was found to produce significant improvements in other areas worsened by anxiety, such as blood pressure, insomnia, emotional numbness, family problems, employment status, and drug and alcohol abuse.

“Control groups who received usual treatment did not show dramatic reductions in anxiety. In fact, control groups that were highly anxious to begin with, if anything, tended to become more anxious over time,” co-author Dr. Vernon Barnes of the Georgia Prevention Center, Georgia Regents University in Augusta, Ga. Explained. “However, progressive muscle relaxation was also effective in reducing anxiety. But, it did not have the other side benefits of TM, such as increasing overall mental health, and increasing the rate of recovery of the physiology from stressors.”

Sonia Choquette Shares How to Access & Follow Intuition

Kicking off the 3-month long “Living an Elevated Existence Mind, Body & Soul Summit,” New York Times bestselling author, Sonia Choquette shared with listeners how to tune in, access and follow their intuitive voice — the voice of spirit or the higher self.

Explaining her 4-step approach to accessing and using our intuition, she said it’s starts with “waking up” to it.

“The first step is waking up . . . when we experience a disruption in our lives that is significant enough that we realize just trying to figure it out alone is not enough,” she shared on the live call. “It can be the loss of a job. It can be an end of a marriage, a sudden illness or an accident, or it can be more subtle, like a general feeling of dis-ease or depression, dissatisfaction, apathy, or when you can’t find your joy. You finally get to a point where you recognize that living with the intellect alone and just trying to watch the world around you and live from your ego isn’t bringing you any relief.”

The next step after waking up is what Choquette calls “Digging Deep,” and is the next phase in opening up to our intuitive voice. This is when we start to turn inward and come back to our heart or our true self.

“We start to recognize that we have another guidance system that we have been ignoring,” she said.

But what really begins to change our life is the third step in the process called ‘Taking the Leap.” This is really a leap back into our heart and letting our intuitive voice start making our decisions. This will then lead us into what she calls the “flow.”

2 Exercises to Tap In
During the FREE call, Choquette shared a number of tools and techniques to begin to awaken our intuition and also find evidence that it not only exists, but is speaking the truth. One of these is journaling.

“Journaling gives you evidence and helps you get in touch with your inner voice,” she said. “When you start writing that down you begin to see in a very short period of time . . . you begin to shift your energy, and then you have this evidence over a period of time that says, ‘This is accurate. This matters. This is important. This in not crazy, this is reliable.’”

One exercise in journaling includes carrying a small notebook with us and each time we have an intuitive hit – a hunch, a thought, a feeling – we take a moment to write it down. For those who prefer, Choquette also recommends using a recorder on a smartphone to record the thoughts as they come up.

“You don’t have to do anything about it, just put it on paper. Watch what happens over a period of two weeks. They will start showing up as very significant markers that have very valuable information to your life,” she noted.

Another journaling exercise is to ask a question to your higher self. Write out the question, and then begin to answer it as if it’s your higher self speaking back to you, she said.

Ask out loud: If it was my higher self, if it was my spirit, what would my spirit say? And be sure to write it out because handwriting is the best since the hand is a direct link to the heart, she shared.

“Intuition is a function of the first organ in your body to develop, which is your heart, which is an intelligent organ, 5000 times stronger then any other sense, and developed way before your brain develops,” she told listeners.

Look to the Heart
When looking for evidence we are hearing our intuition, and that it is leading us in the right direction, Choquette warned not to get caught up in the intellect or left brain – which she referred to as “the ghetto.”

“When you look for evidence in your intellect, you are going to the wrong neighborhood. That is the first thing I tell people. Don’t go to the ghetto because you’re not going to find it there,” she shared. “Don’t go to the ghetto. Don’t go to the left brain — the fight, flight, stress, freeze and anxiety. Go to the heart. That is the good neighborhood. Come back to the heart space and rather then think it, feel it. Don’t ask yourself if it feels right. Ask yourself if it feels true.”
