Living From the Divine Self

By Dr. William Constantine

As winter sheds its grip and spring ushers in, many of us are looking forward to warmer weather. Spring has become synonymous with cleaning – getting rid of stuff we no longer use, preparing the gardens, tidying up the external appearance of the house and yards, etc. However, very few make an effort to clean out their subconscious mind.

Did you know over 90 percent of what we do in a waking state is controlled by what we hold within the subconscious mind? So, for the vast majority of the time, we are literally on autopilot. Doesn’t it make sense that we would want to perform a thorough cleaning on our subconscious too?

Perception is a real problem in the world today because it has become clouded by the pursuits of the false self or ego, and we have become confused about our true nature. It’s caused everything from wars to divorce; murder to heroic deeds; compassion to hatred; illness, and so on. However, ones perception is merely a part of their human conditioning. In reality, perceptions are based on the beliefs we hold within our subconscious mind.

These beliefs are passed down and picked up along the road of life, and are adopted as our own. We essentially have become collectors of beliefs since we were born. As a newborn child, the slate is clean. We literally become a sponge soaking in all the beliefs, false ideals and misconceived notions of the human experience and potential because when it’s coming from a trusted source – a parent or authority figure – we trust it to be true.

Shifting Perception
The conscious and subconscious mind are powerful tools that when we learn how to work with them, can help us create a lifestyle we desire to live. Yet, when we don’t know how to use them properly, we often create the exact thing we don’t wish to experience.

The solution to many of the problems facing the world today, if not all of them, is a shift in perception. If we shift our perceptions we shift the way we react and respond to situations and experiences – thus, giving us a totally different result. In order to shift our perceptions we must rattle the cage of the subconscious mind and see what beliefs we have stored within that no longer serve the highest good and intention of our life.

In his book, “It’s Your Time,” author Joel Osteen calls these false perceptions “dead end neighborhoods,” and they are indeed just that. If you know anyone who has moved into one of these neighborhoods you will probably hear them complain about how slummy their life is and how they can’t seem to get out or “catch a break.”

This perception of lack is what faces many today because they are too busy focusing on what they “don’t have” rather than what they are abundant in. A mere shift in perception will start the ball rolling into the life of freedom and abundance that God wants all of us to live.

There are really two main categories of perceptions from which all others derive – fear and love. The more we find ourselves fearing, the more we are living in the world of the false self. But when we find ourselves in a place of love, we realize we are really living and are in the world of our divine self or God self. In that self, all things are possible.

Here are five tips to shift into the divine self:

  • Think of the areas of your life you want to improve. Ask yourself, “What beliefs do I have regarding this area of my life?” List them out, and then ask, “Is this in alignment with the desired result?” If the answer is no, than you have identified a limiting belief.  Then you have two options: Release it or change it to align with your ultimate vision.
  • Forgive and release. Stop holding on to “negative” things in the past. If you can forgive yourself, forgiving others will be easy.
  • Create an audio CD filled with new thoughts and beliefs – positive affirmations. Make a copy for you to have at work, in the car, and one at home. Listen to this, instead of your favorite morning talk show, where you run the risk of being inundated with news or negativity.
  • Value what you have in your life. Look to the abundance you already have now, like a car, a house, a job, groceries, kids, etc.
  • Implement my belief formula to create beliefs in your subconscious that are in alignment with where you want to be: Thought + Repetition + A Month = New Belief.

With these tools as an active part of your daily routine, your life will run smoother and you will be in a vastly different place in no time.

Transcend: A New Meditation App with Neuro-Feedback

Personal Neuro Devices Inc., a developer of neuro apps, launched a meditation app called Transcend, which gives users feedback on the quality of their meditation using actual neuro-feedback.

The app allows users to track and improve their meditation practices over time by reporting the quality and duration of their meditation sessions, as well as other helpful metrics. Data from each meditation session is gathered using NeuroSky’s MindWave Mobile headset, which is an EEG device that reads small electrical impulses emanating from the brain via a Bluetooth to transmit them through strategically placed electrodes, allowing users to monitor their progress as they melt into a more personal meditation.

Transcend can tell when a user is successfully achieving meditative states regularly, or whether a user may benefit from an alternative form of meditation. By measuring and recording meditative states, a person can track his or her progress and receive confirmation their meditation has been effective.

“This is the first mobile meditation app that gives constructive feedback based on actual neuro-imaging,” said Tony Gaitatzis, CTO and co-founder at Personal Neuro Devices. “Transcend incorporates proprietary brain-activity-analysis algorithms and is based on research studies with individuals who are new to the practice of mediation as well as experienced users.”

Transcend is available for Android in Google Play while an iOS version has just been submitted to the Apple App Store and will soon be available, according to the company. For more information, visit the NeuroSky app store.

Learning to Let it Be

By Alice Grist

Let it go, let it be, release, relax, stop worrying, chill. How often have you been told this, or how often do you tell this to yourself, but in actuality fail miserably to achieve any of these seemingly simple concepts?

Letting go of anything is exceptionally difficult in a society that impresses upon us the need to hoard, worry, over think, over plan and constantly speculate on the what if’s. I wish sometimes I were born an Amazonian Rainforester or some such similar existence, and that ambition would quietly drift out of my head and let me be.

I desire a life that is uncomplicated and simple, and yet day in day out, I, like so many others, stuff my brain with thought toxins and ram my diary full to bursting. Comparatively my brain is far less full than it used to be, and since recently getting knocked up with baby No. 1, my diary too is emptying rapidly. Yet still, like many a good spiritually inspired human before me, I often fail to let it be, relax, chill, release and all that other good stuff.

But this is important. Releasing our lives to the universe, or to whatever power you believe in (God, Goddess, Karma, Fate, Random Nothingness or Fairies at the bottom of the garden), is vital to living a soulful life. We simply must give up the controlling aspects of existence that see us clamoring for a specific finale to our train of thoughts.

Our thoughts will rarely create the existence we think they will. Worry is a fine example. We all pick specific areas of concern, focus on them, and they become everything. We focus on our shoelaces to the extent that we trip over the unseen approaching curb. All this overthinking does nothing but close us off to the wonderful possibilities our lives could hold should we choose to simply relax, release, let it go and chill.

Putting Into Practice
We can practice the art of releasing these concentric mind circles every single moment. Whenever your brain starts to toddle off down lanes of fantasy (good or bad), then you simply have to stop that track of thinking. There is no point hiking up and down the paths of imagination when reality is a whole different color. So instead, don’t entertain it. Relax, release, chill. Let it be.

When your mind fixates upon a specific worry, expand it and consider the other possibilities. Maybe take some time to count up all the things you have worried about this month and actualize how many of them really came to pass? My guess is not many did, and your over analysis of them made no difference to their occurrence or otherwise.

Even positive thinking can have it’s drawbacks as we may not be correct about what is best for us. A longed for canoodle may turn out to be flat and bland. A new car might not transform your reality into the gold spun fantasy you desired. As such the best bet, perhaps the most soulful bet, is to hedge all bets and see what life has in store for us, no strings attached.

I advise you to practice the overused but well-intentioned new age phrase – live in the moment. Chances are anything and everything outside the walls of your mind is going to happen anyway. So the best way to prepare for everything is not to contemplate a damned thing.

This week, be inspired to let it go, let it go, let it go. Whatever it is stalking your thoughts right now, yes. I’m talking to you and you know what it is I refer to. Let it go. It doesn’t matter. It never did. And your thoughts do nothing but churn your emotions and delude you into thinking you can do something about it.

Trust, release, let it go, and exist minute by minute. Let all else drop away…

Exclusive Coverage: Hay House I Can Do It Ignite NYC Part 2

During the Hay House I Can Do It Ignite NYC conference in mid-February, the company introduced a number of new and upcoming authors who each took the stage for 20 minutes to share their unique stories and expertise.

One of these was The Daily Love founder Mastin Kipp. He sprung onto the stage full of energy, very much like his mentor Tony Robbins, and immediately shifted the energy in the room. At age 21, Kipp thought he had it all – the girlfriend, the career and the BMW, but this lifestyle led him to drugs and alcohol.

One day while getting high on cocaine, he felt a presence around him that told him he was “more than this,” and he decided to get sober. “I stopped cocaine, but didn’t start listening,” he told the audience. “I was still striving for a sense of significance outside of myself.”

He was in the music business, but his career wasn’t going where he wanted it to, and one day a girl gave him Caroline Myss’ “Energy Anatomy” CD. He connected to what he heard, and eventually started a company called “Love Yourself.” He even got some celebrities to wear the clothing he was selling. But then everything suddenly fell apart.

“Within one week, my girlfriend broke up with me, my investors pulled out, my back went out, I got gout and my roommate moved out,” said Kipp. “I had been doing an abundance mediation from Kundalini yoga, but everything left.”

He had nowhere to go, so his ex-girlfriend’s family allowed him to move into their small guest house, which was essentially an 8-foot by 8-foot room. One day he was meditating and said to God, “I’m in this 8 by 8 room, but I hear you are abundant.” He couldn’t understand why all of the things had occurred in his life. Then he heard an answer: “You are in this room because this is the size of your faith.”

“I stopped looking outside of myself. I thought, ‘what if when all of the crap hits the fan, it’s actually a divine storm? What if everything is going wrong so it could go right?” said Kipp. “Divine storms often occur right before our surrender point.”

At the time, all he had left of the business was a Twitter account called The Daily Love, and he started tweeting positive messages about love. Then one day, reality star Kim Kardashian retweeted one of his quotes, and his Twitter account went from 1,000 to 10,000.

“That is what happens when you surrender. God’s Rolodex is deeper than anyone you know and God’s bank account is deeper than the U.S. treasury,” said Kipp.

He explained to the audience that fear holds us back, and that if we truly want to grow, we have to step into uncertainty – and that means we are going to feel afraid.

“Be willing to be terrified, and still do it,” he said. “Be willing to surrender and keep going. It took me five years. Let God surprise you. No matter how big you think, God is infinite.”

Father & Son Journey
In eighth grade, Michael Eisen’s friends abandoned him. He was bullied and picked on, and his only real friend was a toy poodle named Brandy, he told the NYC audience when he took the stage on Sunday afternoon of the weekend conference. He was angry and he would cry to Brandy because not matter what Brandy loved him unconditionally.

“That dog saved my life,” said Eisen, who said by grade 12 he finally saw a light at the end of the tunnel. He knew if he got good grades, he would get into a good college, get a good job, have money, find a partner, have kids, retire and be happy. So he worked himself to the point of sickness.

“I felt like a victim to society, my town, my parents, and I wanted to get out of there,” he explained. “I was so stressed and anxious from what I was putting myself through, I wound up with a bunch of stomach issues.”

He finally made it to a university, and realized people liked him there. He was funny and had a great time socializing, but he forgot to study. He soon realized he needed to go back to his beliefs about working hard and getting good grades so he could lead the life he thought would make him happy, and even felt guilty for having too much fun.

“I tried to study and the stomach issues came back. I didn’t get good grades, and by the time I was 19, I had a complete breakdown,” he said.

In the meantime, his father, Jeffrey, who had achieved everything he set out to in his own life, including becoming the CEO of a multi-million dollar steel-distribution and fabrication business, realized he wasn’t happy. He hired a life coach, began to read a lot of self-help books, and he “completely transformed his life in one year,” said Eisen. “I showed up for the holidays and my dad was a different person.”

Eisen decided if his dad could do it at age 50, he could do it at 19, and he became his father’s first student. “He taught me awareness creates choice, and choice creates change. Life is about learning, not about the results. We are here to learn and grow. Everything else stems from that,” he told the crowd.

Within six months, Eisen’s depression lifted and his stomach issues were gone. Eight years later, not only are he and his father good friends, they are also co-authors of a new book, “Empowered YOUth: A Father and Son’s Journey to Conscious Living.

His father Jeffrey is a skilled life coach, spiritual guide and speaker, and Michael is the founder of the Youth Wellness Network (YWN), an organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering youth across the globe to live happier and more positive lives.

“The Five Levels of Attachment,” by Don Miguel Ruiz Jr.

Bestselling author, Dr. Wayne Dyer said: “Have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing.”

Now in his new book, “The Five Levels of Attachment: Toltec Wisdom for the Modern World,” Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. explains how our attachments to thoughts, beliefs, identity and more, are creating our current reality.

“If my attachment to what I know blinds me to all the available options, then my knowledge is controlling me; it is controlling my intention, and it is creating my Personal Dream for me,” he says in the book. “But with awareness of my attachments comes the opportunity to take back that control and to live as I choose.”

Throughout our lives, we have formed beliefs based on our own experiences, as well as what we learn through others. These beliefs create the reality we experience, and we become attached to that reality – whether it’s our own identity, the city we live in or the car we drive. In the book, Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. guides the reader toward an understanding of how they developed their current beliefs, and how by re-evaluating them, a new life can emerge.

“When I believe something must stay in its rightful place, exactly as it is, for me to be O.K., I have become attached to it. I have confused this external thing with who I am,” he says in the book.

There are five levels of attachment introduced in the book so readers can evaluate how attached they are to different aspects of their lives – with the first being little to no attachment to the fifth being fully attached. These are:

The Authentic Self
Preference
Identity
Internalization
Fanaticism

Just as we have formed attachments to beliefs, things and situations, we have the same power to break these attachments through awareness, and a process Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. calls “redirection.” No matter what level our attachment may be, he offers a map to move down the line to detaching. It starts with recognizing where we are, and making a choice to change.
