Two New Conscious Parenting Children’s Books

We found two new children’s books for conscious parents to share with their kids. The first is “The Day an Angel Ran into My Room,” by Anabelle Valenzuela. It tells the story of six-year-old Alessandra, who meets her guardian angel in her bedroom after asking her mother if she could stay up for an extra five minutes.

The angel explains how every person is very important in the universe, how every action we take causes a reaction, the importance of visualization, and much more. The story teaches children that they are never alone, that we all have a guardian angel by our side, and how our thoughts and actions have the power to change our world.

princess-addisonThe second book, “Princess Addison Gets Angry” by Molly Martin, is a short book depicting a princess who gets very angry when it’s starts to rain and she can’t play outside. She throws a tantrum, and her mother explains to her how there are better ways to vent her feelings.

Strategies for Living in the Now

By Jennifer Garza

Life sometimes bogs us down. We get carried away multi-tasking life’s stressors, and we forget to leave the stress at the door and enjoy the moment. One of the most rewarding things you we can do for ourselves is learn to live in the Now.

Living in the now – or practicing mindfulness – creates a sense of serenity, silences the ego, and makes people feel more connected to a higher power, and everyone and everything around them.

Here are three ways to practice living in the now:

1. Consciously set aside time for being mindful.
Mindfulness is a skill. It takes practice. To get into the habit, take 10 minutes a day to consciously do so. Basking in nature is a great way to live in the now. Take in the wisp of white against a deep blue sky. Savor the white snow as it falls from the sky, or watch the diamond-effect of the sun as it skims ocean waves with the warmth of the sun on your face. If basking in nature is not an option, take 10 minutes to savor the exotic flavor of a new tea, listen to classical music, or enjoy a bubbly, hot bath.

2. Realize current obstacles are there for a reason.
Instead of ruminating on a problem, focus on what you’re doing and experiencing at the moment. Even dire circumstances have opportunities for fostering new awareness. Take for instance, losing a job. Most of us at that very second would envision future loss – loss of savings, loss of homes, loss of quality of life. The irony is you are creating stress that does not exist yet. It also sends a signal to the Universe to bring you those losses. Have faith, instead, that resources will show up when needed and focus on the present.

This does not mean we shouldn’t be proactive. Set aside time to job hunt, network and make arrangements – everything you can do to create the new situation you desire. But during the down time, focus only on the now. Cherish the amount of time you are free to spend with family or take up a new hobby you’ve never had the time for – but savor the good in the now.

3. Every time you feel stress, remember to concentrate on your senses.
Close your eyes and think: What do I hear? What do I taste or smell? What am I touching? After full exploration, open your eyes and think: What is there in front of me that is beautiful? Because we are so inundated with tasks, outside influences and our own thoughts, we shut out the wonderful sensory experiences of everyday life. This exercise transports you from a cerebral state of mind into the sensory realm – which forces you into the now.

May Cause Miracles Live Seminar: Week 6

In the last week of her live “May Cause Miracles” 6-week seminar, bestselling author Gabrielle Bernstein announced she has just graduated from Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training, and decided to introduce the New York audience to a chant from the practice in order to protect the room and bring everyone’s energy together.

The chant was “Ong Namo Gurudev Namo,” which means I bow to the inner wisdom within you, she explained. This week of the book – and the live seminar – focused on taking the wisdom from the previous 5 weeks and and sharing it with the world.

“We are all teachers, and this is the time for collective community,” Bernstein said, explaining we are in the Aquarian Age which is a time of recovery and restoration. “We have to be awake to a higher consciousness. If you are ending up in rooms like this, whether you realize it or not, you signed a sacred contract with the Universe to serve.”

The work for this week of the book is about sharing our light with the world, and Bernstein offered four steps for us to remember our true calling:

  1. Your purpose is to heal your mind.
  2. Continuously witness and surrender the fear that blocks your purpose.
  3. Listen to your ‘ing’ and trust in the path.
  4. Choose love and know you’re changing the pattern of the world.

Quoting from “A Course in Miracles,” she said: “Miracles are healing because they supply a lack; they are performed by those who temporarily have more for those who temporarily have less.”

This reinforces the role of miracle workers in the world, she explained. As we heal our own minds, and help others to do the same, we are all performing miracles.

“As you begin to expand your inner world, you temporarily have more,” Bernstein told the audience. “When you forgive them, teach them and shine your light, you are offering help for those who temporarily have less, and that is a miracle.”

Many of the practices of witnessing, willingness, gratitude and forgivness used throughout the book are applied to the world as a whole this week. On Day 36, the affirmation shared is: “For my peace and the peace of the world, I choose love.” The morning passage asks us to witness our ego in action without judgment, which Bernstein said is what the entire 40-day course is all about.

“All I have to do is witness without judgment, and remind myself [fear] isn’t real. Then it’s just about saying yes to love,” she shared. “Saying yes is the most important part. Saying yes when we hear guidance, no matter how uncomfortable we may fear. As you say yes, you will be guided to what you need to learn more of.”

By Day 39, we revisit gratitude with the affirmation, “I am grateful for my new perception of the world,” and Bernstein explained we must not dwell on the mistakes we make along the way. It’s about witnessing them without judgment and then forgiving ourselves as quickly as possible.

“Your ego is not grateful for your new perceptions. Your highest self has to practice the gratitude for your new perceptions,” she told the audience. “The key to having a committed spiritual practice is to fall in love with your practice. If you have not fallen in love with it yet, just keep growing and praying to fall in love with it, and you will.

One of the new perceptions is realizing we are here in this physical world to be helpful to others, and this viewpoint can change everything, Bernstein said, noting that to be a miracle worker, we don’t have to be perfect and have it all together. In fact, not having it all together is what helps her teach.

“I can take my experiences and tell you the mistakes I made, and how I brought myself back,” she said.

As we continue the work laid out in the six weeks, we will start to see a new pattern emerging where we are creating more love then fear. “You have an innate behavior and now you need to keep it up, and show up and say ‘yes’ more, and listen more.,” she said. “Keep the work going and make sure it is a committed practice. We are not done. We have just begun. This is when the real work begins, and it’s time to go up a notch.”

Elevated Existence Presents “Exploring Past Life Regression with Michelle Brock

Elevated Existence Magazine is hosting a workshop on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at The Meta Center in New York on past life regression. Michelle Brock, past life regression specialist, psychic medium and spiritual development life coach will lead participants through a four-hour workshop, including group regressions.

“A past life regression is the process of uncovering memories from a previous lifetime,” Brock tells Elevated Existence. “All of the experiences we have ever had, in this as well as other lifetimes, are stored in the part of our minds that we call the subconscious. These memories can be brought up by visiting the subconscious, similar to having a dream or a lucid dream, only with a specific intent.”

In her work – both individually and in groups – Brock guides people to the subconscious mind where they can access these past life memories, which can affect them in a number of ways in their current life – including phobias, fears, limiting belief systems, emotional and even physical symptoms.

“By remembering the story behind it, or what happened in our past life that is connected to it, we can heal ourselves from the symptoms being manifested in our life today,” Brock explains.

During the workshop on April 6, she will use guided imagery with the group to help unlock the memories from the subconscious mind, using the same techniques in her one-on-one practice. Although an individual session is more personalized, many people have equally insightful experiences in a group, she says.

“Many people have reported they had profound, even life-changing experiences in both large and small groups,” Brock notes. “The guided imagery I use is essentially the same in a group as what I do when I work with people individually. In fact, meditating in a group can often help to create a magnified energy that is the product of different people from different backgrounds who have gathered together with the same intent and purpose – which is to heal, learn, understand, grow spiritually and evolve more consciously.”

In fact, Brock’s first experience with past life regression was in a group setting, and this eventually led her to the work she does today. Through exploring her own past lives, she was able to except the challenges of her current life, and look at every encounter with another person as “deeply meaningful and fraught with purpose,” she explains.

“By healing from my past lives, I was able to find a tremendous sense of peace in the present moment. And, even more important, I discovered the future is not determined. I came to know I was the architect of my own destiny, and by clearing things from my past that were holding me back, I was able to create a future for myself without limits.”

Getting in Tune with Our Subconscious Mind

By Sherry Winn

The laws of the mind never have a time-out. We want to believe we think in positive terms, knowing what we think about most of the time is attracted into our lives. Yet, often in a day, we mentally say things like, “My legs hurt,” “My back aches,” or “I’m tired.” Every time we speak or think words, we are attracting these things to us.

How many times have you joined a conversation that included somebody complaining about something? Searching for sympathy, how many times have your shared stories of your injuries, pains or heartaches with friends only to discover your friends attempting to one-up you with their woes? How many times have you watched a news program or read an article thinking how horrible or awful the story was only to share it with others several times throughout the day?

You were probably unaware you were invoking the law of attraction throughout the day as you repeated these negative words and thoughts. This law of the mind does not only work when you are paying attention to it – It works 24 hours a day, every day of the week.

The undesired creation of events from our lack of awareness of our harmful thoughts and words is one of the reasons why people believe the law of attraction does not work. We fail to truthfully observe what we are thinking and saying. We are naïve to the fact that we have a habitual way of living, which encompasses the sharing of our pains, heartaches and misgivings with others as a part of the normalcy of our day.

Consistency is Key
We believe if we concentrate for a few minutes a day on affirmations, then we are doing what is necessary to make a shift. While this is a great start to creating change, we need to realize whatever we are repeating throughout the day is a true indication of what we are feeling. What we consistently feel is what we will attract into our lives.

If we begin the day with a short meditation or by embracing what is on our vision boards, we are momentarily attracting our dreams. However, if we spend the rest of the day after our morning sessions complaining, whining, doubting, judging or comparing, then most of our day is spent failing to be aligned with our desires.

The key is to be aware of our habits, actions, words and thoughts. We can’t behave as if a 10-minute session of positivity in the morning will counteract all the other damaging moments of the day.

The Subconscious Mind is the Creator
We spend most of our life creating things unconsciously and then believe we have suffered from bad luck or injustice. For example, when people suffer from an illness, they will stand steadfast in their beliefs that they would have never created such a horrible thing intentionally. Of course, they don’t want to be ill and they might not have ever said, “I want this disease,” but did they say other things that could have created dis-ease in their bodies?

Here are some things they might have been subconsciously saying which created a result they didn’t desire:

  • I am not good enough.
  • Nobody will ever love me.
  • I can’t forgive myself for what I did to my son, daughter, friend, etc.
  • I deserve to be punished.
  • I will never let anybody get close to me again because I can’t trust others.
  • I can’t trust myself.
  • I’ll never forgive that person for what she did to me. She doesn’t deserve forgiveness.

These messages are creating an unwanted result. These individuals are not attracting love, compassion, goodness, joy, peace, or kindness to themselves. They are thinking and therefore receiving the opposite of all they desire.

Remember it is our subconscious processes that decide what is going to happen in our outer experiences. By questioning ourselves, really paying attention, and focusing on our life patterns and the habitual things we do daily, we can begin to hear our unconscious minds. Then, when we are honest with ourselves, we can begin to make huge shifts.
