VIDEO: Deepak Chopra’s Dream Weaver

Deepak Chopra and The Chopra Center introduced a new product recently called the Dream Weaver – an all-in-one, audiostrobe light and sound machine. Using a pair of goggles with built in technology, it features music and Deepak Chopra’s voice guiding the user. The Dream Weaver uses light and sound pulses at specific frequencies to help the user reach different states of consciousness, according to the Chopra Center Web site.

“You put on these goggles that fed light into your body at different frequencies and then there is music with that, and then there is me speaking,” Chopra says in the below video explaining the device.

Chopra compares it to chanting or meditation, which allows people to enter an altered state of relaxation. People can simply listen to the CD, put it on a computer or use it with the goggles, he says in the video. Benefits including enhancing a meditation practice; increasing motivation, personal growth, intuition and creativity; help people sleep better; and help people to relax, according to The Chopra Center Web site.

“This will have a good future for amplifying the experience of meditation, reducing stress, helping people sleep and helping people dream,” said Chopra.

Are You Following Your True Soul Path

We all stumble. It’s part of the learning experience we set for ourselves before our journeys here on Earth. There is always something to learn – even when we find ourselves off our pre-chosen path.

Many times, these lessons are the most important but finding our way back to the truth is equally vital.  What are the signs that your soul is living its true path? Here are three benchmarks for you to go by:

1. You feel light. You smile spontaneously and look at the world with fresh eyes, noticing the beauty around you. You feel connected with everyone and everything, and know you are crossing paths with other souls meant to enrich your earthly experience.

On the other hand, signs you are making choices not benefitting your path include frustration, stress, feelings of being smothered, and feeling as if you must walk on eggshells with those around you. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, understand there is something out of balance. These are signs that change must come to restore your inner balance.

Begin to pay attention to how you feel around others and in your surroundings. Despite fear, acknowledge what is harming you and remove it from your life.

2. The world feels magical. You receive signs all around you, and things fall into place effortlessly. When you are following your true path, roadblocks disappear and opportunities chase you around every corner. You put intentions into the Universe, and it responds with speed.

If you are encountering roadblocks, your thoughts are focused on your worries – not your desires. Sit in a quiet place and intentionally let go of all fears and focus solely on what you wish to create in your life. Do not worry about how it will happen. Instead, feel as if it already is.

3. You have unwavering faith. Faith is the key component to the evolution of your soul. Faith must come first, and the joy will naturally follow. How do you know if your faith is strong? The desires for achieving what you want for yourself fades, and you embrace what comes your way. You place your soul’s destiny in the hands of a higher power, knowing that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be.

When you embrace the concept of faith, doubt about what is to come slides away. When you have faith and understand its power, fear and doubt present themselves as the illusions they really are.

VIDEO: Jane Fonda PrimeTime AM/PM Yoga for Beginners

Jane Fonda recently released her newest workout video, Jane Fonda PrimeTime AM/PM Yoga for Beginners,” featuring short yoga workouts to be done in the morning and evening.

“This is a yoga DVD for beginners and older people, who have to move slower and can’t turn themselves into pretzels like I used to be able to do,” the 74-year-old actress told The Los Angeles Times in an interview. “I wanted to make a video that I could do with a couple of 10-minute segments for the morning and a couple for the afternoon.”

The DVD features three AM workouts to energize, and two PM workouts to help viewers relax and relive tension and stress.

The sessions include:

AM: Abs & Back – Helps to strengthen and tighten the core to stabilize and support the lower back

AM: Energy – Helps to invigorate and get ready for the day ahead with light stretches and yoga poses or asanas.

AM: Strength – This engages the full body through yoga combined with weight training.

PM: Mobility – Using a chair, this session will help to relax and relieve stress.

PM: Relaxation – Stretching the core, shoulders, hip, back and legs, this also helps to release tension.

BONUS: A 5-minute session of stability and posture exercise to improve balance.

“A lot of the DVDs that are out there are just too hard,” Fonda told the LA Times. “In fact, the demographic that I’m addressing is left out of most exercise programs that are put out on DVDs these days. I would say the No. 1 most important thing for healthy aging is to stay physically active, and that’s why I decided to make a video for boomers.”

VIDEO: Prenatal Dance DVD by Menina Fortunato

As a dancer, teacher and choreographer who shared the stage with celebrities including Britney Spears, Beyonce and Carrie Underwood, Menina Fortunato created a custom workout for pregnant women called Prenatal Dance.

The DVD shows expecting women how to safely work out with a series of non-impact, dance combinations, followed by a relaxing cool-down to help mothers connect with their baby.

Fortunato developed Prenatal Dance mid-way through her pregnancy, after she stopped performing as a dancer. She was looking for ways to continue exercising and she tried many prenatal fitness and yoga videos on the market, none of which challenged or motivated her. She credits the workout she created to her wonderful pregnancy, easy all-natural birth, and quick recovery.

While the workout DVD will improve balance, flexibility, coordination, cardio and strength, it will also help women increase confidence and promote relaxation.

VIDEO: HBO’s Enlightened Back for Season 2 January 13

HBO’s hit show, Enlightened, staring Laura Dern, is back for a second season starting Sunday, January 13. Dern plays Amy, the self-destructive executive whose public meltdown sent her to a meditation and treatment center for 3 months. When she returns she is forced to live with her mother, take a low-level job at her company, and maintain her “enlightened” viewpoint in the real world.

The show also stars Luke Wilson, who plays her ex-husband Levi, and Dern’s real-life mother, Diane Ladd, who plays her mother in the show.

We loved this show last season, and are excited for its return this year!
