Mary Beth Vanderlinden: Healing Journey of Your Soul – Release and Reclaim Your Fragmented Self

By Jennifer McCartney

Do you feel disconnected or like a part of you is missing? Do you have difficulty remembering your early years? Are you afraid of certain things but don’t know why? Maybe you have recurring dreams or nightmares, or are prone to anxiety and panic attacks?

Past life regression and soul retrieval may contain the answers you’ve been looking for with Mary Beth Vanderlinden shared how past life regression and soul retrieval can help during an interview with Elevated Existence founder Tammy Mastroberte, during the Living an Elevated Existence Mind, Body & Soul Summit Season 2. ” Vanderlinden—an ordained minister and intuitive healer who has been called “the human CAT scan” for her ability to see, hear and feel energy—also explained the effects of retrieving fragmented soul parts and how this can bring a person back into wholeness so he or she can move forward in life. This reuniting can also bring back joy, free one from depression, addictions and more.

She explained our soul and it’s past lives hold the key to having a happy, healthy and prosperous future, and that past-life energy can negatively affect our current lives without us even realizing it. How do we know we have past life energy holding us back? “The main way you can tell past life energy is holding you is if you can’t move forward,” Vanderlinden said. “You feel stuck.” She compared it to feeling like we are sinking in quicksand.

Our present-day issues brought about by past life energy can manifest themselves in many ways. She gave the example of a woman who felt afraid or uncomfortable around men, explaining that it could be the result of a devastating sexual and physical abuse from a past life. Our bodies retain an imprint of that abuse. “There’s that cellular memory built in fear,” she said. Also, these past lives can affect not only us but also our entire families, for generations.

“If you see patterns that are repeating in families like poverty, that’s ancestral,” she shared. If we try and escape these patterns ourselves, by trying to overcome our fear of men or trying to better manage our money, or escape a cycle of abuse that our mothers and grandmothers also suffered, our cellular energy is actively fighting against us, telling us, “you can’t do that,” she said.

Protecting Our Energy
To complicate matters, it isn’t just past energy effecting on our daily lives, but also the energy people bring to us—everyone we interact with has their own energy and we often absorb it and take it on without realizing it.

“You’re soaking up their energy and you’re showing the symptoms of that energy,” she said, using the example of meeting a friend for lunch and suddenly feeling drained afterwards. “If you notice that every time you meet them for lunch the same things happens…you notice you always feel really drained or you just don’t feel right afterwards…that person is the one you’re picking up energy from.”

So how do we protect our own energy on a daily basis, and ground ourselves so we don’t absorb the energy of others and allow it to effect us in a negative way? Vanderlinden walked listeners though the below exercise to use before we start our day:

Get seated comfortably and uncross your legs. Rest your hands on your thighs or knees. Take in a deep cleansing breath. Do that three times.

In front of you just imagine a path in a meadow. Notice the flowers, the butterflies, and the birds. Feel the sun on your face. Now in front of you you’re about to enter a forest with massive oak trees. Walking through the forest you enter a clearing and you can feel free to sit down or remain standing.

Now you see a seedling dropping from an oak tree, fluttering toward you. It enters in through your belly and comes to settle in the core of your being. It sprouts and grows in the core of your being. It extends its roots down your back and leg and into the earth. All the way through the dirt and soil and rock to the hot core of the earth. See them drawing in that earth energy. The roots draw that energy back up into the core of your being. Feel that warm healing earth energy pulsing through your core and sit with that a moment.

Then see the heavens open and give heavenly light to our third eye and down through our heart to the core of our being. Feel that divine light and learning and protection. Take a deep breath. Now we’re solidly grounded to heaven and to earth.

Additionally, to establish energy boundaries, she taught listeners to “get into their coconut,” which involved projecting heavenly light from our core, our solar plexus, and pushing it out so it’s 5-feet on either side of us, as well as above and below us. This is our energy boundary and it has a hard shell, she said. Then we set the intention, “My energy is my energy, and it stays inside the coconut.”

You want to get into your coconut every morning, she said, suggesting we do the practice as soon as we wake up or while in the shower. “Otherwise, you keep getting mired in other people’s energy.”

Elevated Existence Presents “Exploring Past Life Regression with Michelle Brock

Elevated Existence Magazine is hosting a workshop on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at The Meta Center in New York on past life regression. Michelle Brock, past life regression specialist, psychic medium and spiritual development life coach will lead participants through a four-hour workshop, including group regressions.

“A past life regression is the process of uncovering memories from a previous lifetime,” Brock tells Elevated Existence. “All of the experiences we have ever had, in this as well as other lifetimes, are stored in the part of our minds that we call the subconscious. These memories can be brought up by visiting the subconscious, similar to having a dream or a lucid dream, only with a specific intent.”

In her work – both individually and in groups – Brock guides people to the subconscious mind where they can access these past life memories, which can affect them in a number of ways in their current life – including phobias, fears, limiting belief systems, emotional and even physical symptoms.

“By remembering the story behind it, or what happened in our past life that is connected to it, we can heal ourselves from the symptoms being manifested in our life today,” Brock explains.

During the workshop on April 6, she will use guided imagery with the group to help unlock the memories from the subconscious mind, using the same techniques in her one-on-one practice. Although an individual session is more personalized, many people have equally insightful experiences in a group, she says.

“Many people have reported they had profound, even life-changing experiences in both large and small groups,” Brock notes. “The guided imagery I use is essentially the same in a group as what I do when I work with people individually. In fact, meditating in a group can often help to create a magnified energy that is the product of different people from different backgrounds who have gathered together with the same intent and purpose – which is to heal, learn, understand, grow spiritually and evolve more consciously.”

In fact, Brock’s first experience with past life regression was in a group setting, and this eventually led her to the work she does today. Through exploring her own past lives, she was able to except the challenges of her current life, and look at every encounter with another person as “deeply meaningful and fraught with purpose,” she explains.

“By healing from my past lives, I was able to find a tremendous sense of peace in the present moment. And, even more important, I discovered the future is not determined. I came to know I was the architect of my own destiny, and by clearing things from my past that were holding me back, I was able to create a future for myself without limits.”

Dr. Brian Weiss Explains Past Life Regression Therapy

In the Elevated Existence September 2012 issue cover story interview, best-selling author Dr. Brian Weiss, along with his daughter Amy Weiss, MSW, explain past life regression therapy, what the benefits are, and what they have learned from working with it over the years.

Weiss also explains how he discovered it – as he was once a skeptic about past lives and reincarnation – and they both discuss the new book they co-wrote, “Miracles Happen: The Transformational Healing Power of Past-Life Memories.”

Below is an excerpt from the interview. For the full cover story, see the September 2012 issue.

“Past life regression therapy is a very powerful and very potent type of therapy where you can heal symptoms such as phobias, emotional problems, physical ailments and more, just by remembering your past lives,” Dr. Brian Weiss tells Elevated Existence. “Whether you believed in past lifetimes or not, the symptoms went away.”

In traditional psychotherapy, when someone recalls an event, trauma or other experience from the past – usually from childhood – it causes a resolution and healing of symptoms. Past life therapy just expands the arena, he says.

“I think the mechanisms are very similar, but now the arena doesn’t stop at adolescence, infancy or even in utero. It’s expanded into many lifetimes. The pattern or model is very much like the psycho-analytical model except the arena is much larger.”

Weiss has seen healing at the physical, emotional and psychological level. For example, if someone has a neck pain and discovers he or she was hanged in the 12th century, this pain tends to go away, he says. Recalling a true story of a radiologist patient he worked with, who had undergone several unsuccessful attempts to treat his back pain, including orthopedic surgeons, Weiss used past life regression therapy and he remembered being lanced in the back during the Middle Ages. After this, his pain disappeared.

“Emotional disorders, phobias and psychological disorders can also be treated this way. We have seen people get rid of anxieties and fears, and we also see the fear of death diminishing because people are finding out they don’t die,” Weiss says. “They realize they go on after the death of their physical bodies and reunite with loved ones, and then they begin to approach their present life differently.”

During a past life regression, the client is taken through past lives, and then to the end of each life, where many report floating above their bodies and seeing a bright light, loved ones who have passed or a “transformation figure at the light,” Weiss notes. They also have a chance to review the life they just left.

“We often ask, ‘What did you learn? What were the lessons? How does it connect to your present life?’ Making those connections increases understanding, and the more people understand, the better they feel, and the more symptoms resolve,” he says.

People also begin to live with more joy and happiness, and less fear. They start to see their current relationships differently, as many discover they are reunited with a soul mate from a previous life and continue to do so over the centuries, and spiritually they open up to a new understanding.

“We see values changing and things that seemed important before – like accumulating things, competition and winning – evolve into sharing, kindness and compassion. Those are the things you really take with you, and not your things,” Weiss explains. “As you remove fears and obstacles to inner peace and joy, then you see life just flowering and flourishing. This offers tremendous advantages for life in the present moment.”
